Home Sweet Home

The rustling of the fallen šŸ leaves, the crisp mountain air warmed our souls as we stepped into our front yard. Home... is that feeling like no other place in the world. After traveling cross country for almost 2 months, we arrived home! Lili ran around hopping like a rabbit , grinning from ear to ear to be home! She covered the perimeter of the yard, eagerly sniffing to smell those familar scents that she loves to wake up to every morning. As amazing as the trip was, the feeling of coming home was just as exciting as experiencing all of the mountains and beaches.

Reflecting on our incredible journey, we realize how blessed we are to have each other to love and how blessed we are to have good health and the flexibility to explore God's creations. Back in the day, so many people traveled cross country to find a better life and many were met with peril and unable to reach their dreams. Even though our journey was not as dangerous as traveling in a horse and buggy through the brush and mountains, we are so grateful to have made it home safely. We saw some unbelievably beautiful places, but we didn't see any place that we would rather call home than the mountains and beaches of Georgia.

We met some interesting people along the way, visited with a few friends, and we are so looking forward to seeing our friends and family in the mountains and in south Georgia. I'm sure after spending some time in the mountains and St. Simons, we will be ready for another adventure. But for now, we just want to enjoy cooking in our kichen, decorating our home for the holidays, cleaning up our mountain of leaves, and just being home!

Why did we write this blog? With dementia running in both of our families, it is our hope that if we are faced with it one day , these words will bring us back to each other and the life we always loved and enjoyed, something we can use to keep each other as vibrant and happy as possible. We also hope this blog has put a smile on your face and has served as a reminder of God's grace and love.
